Very interesting about bones I never knew!

My concern is broken teeth as a result of dogs chewing on larger bones such as beef bones. I had given my labs raw beef bones to chew on for years and one of them had broken 5 teeth as a result. The lesson I learned was giving appropriate sized bones from smaller animals such as duck, lamb, and chicken etc. I don't know how you feel about that but maybe a topic of a post by you?

The species that the bone is from can make a difference and also what part of the animal it's from. I think that a good guide is thinking what type of animals they'd eat in the wild and what parts they eat first out of choice. Our cats will always eat squirrel and rat heads first. Whole squirrels are gradually chomped through, apart from the tail. Sorry about your lab breaking teeth. I think that the tooth health also needs to be considered- a couple of ours had a bad start in life and one has had a tooth break just chewing on fresh tree twigs.
