There is nothing more divisive between pet owners and veterinarians than vaccines. Conventional vets are often wanting them done yearly. Others do not want a single one. Decide what you want to do!
Rabies Heartworm deworming shouldn’t be forced by preventative programs like Banfield especially rabies vaccines shouldn’t be forced on older cats like mine. But the rabies vaccine is.
I am not against vaccines but I feel that the veterinary industry should not overmedicate and over vaccination is not necessary for my indoor only cats . I refuse all vaccines now
Against.
On Vaccination: Freedom to choose weather it be human or animal. Unfortunately, some people are incapable of proper care of a pet, eg. the homeless in our city parks with dogs. Many are malnourished and some have disabilities the dogs as well as the humans. Now what do we do? There is no enforcement of these dogs unless a reported violation or incident has occured. Just two weeks ago a small Shiba Inu was taken to the shelter. The rum soaked owner was not aware that the little dog with an injury to the right hind leg was wandering around the park. He has made NO attempt to reclaim his pet as of yet. Santa Monica, Ca.
I am against all the vaccinations that Vets now require. Even rabies but it’s a state law in Georgia. Seems strange that whether you receive a 1 year or a 3 year vaccine that both are the same dose. I would rather titer but titering now ranges around $350 or more to run a titer test. Just spent $999.02 on my male to have a growth removed from inside his ear. Was necessary to do so but the Vet required a bordetella vacc and a DAP2 (1 yr) vacc before he would do the operation. I already know about bordetella and what it protects against. Sorry for my rant but honestly, it doesn’t seem right that they push these vaccines…
